The warmest moor lake in the Alps - the Schwarzsee in Kitzbühel - is truly a gem of nature, not only due to its splendid location but also because of its exceptional water quality. The unique view of the surrounding Kitzbühel mountains and the adjacent Kaisergebirge is hard to forget, as well as the adjacent hotel.

The small natural moor lake lies like a hidden secret at the edge of the town, nestled within a protected природal sanctuary. In the early morning hours, when mist drifts gently across the water’s surface and soft golden light begins to glow, the lake takes on an almost mystical quality—a place for reflection and unhurried calm. A narrow path winds poetically along the shoreline, leading through the nature reserve and offering open views of the surrounding mountain scenery.

The Schwarzsee owes its name to the fact that it is a moor lake, and the water in it is often referred to as "blackwater." With an area of 16 hectares and a maximum depth of 7 meters, Schwarzsee is a relic from more than 10,000 years ago when it formed at the end of the last ice age. Since the 1890s, Schwarzsee has served as a popular bathing lake. The healing moor water of the lake has a soothing effect on all visitors and contributes to their well-being.
The unique circular hiking trail around the Schwarzsee is almost a landmark of the Gamsstadt and starts directly at the hotel. The nature trail meanders picturesquely along the lakeshore, through the nature reserve with a fantastic view of the lake and the surrounding mountain range. The idyllic circular hiking trail stretches over 2.5 km and you should allow about 45 minutes walking time for it. Here, you will find the perfect opportunity to recharge your batteries and treat your body to a dose of fresh lake air in every season.
